Day One It seems odd that today, when war breaks out, I have an audition for a play about a soldier who took part in war crimes in the Bosnian conflict. I hope the media produce accurate and unfettered coverage of what is going on. I hope that even if the war is quick and easy, people will still remember that war is failure, whether it is necessary or not, whether it accomplishes good things or not. It is failure of our world governance. Nobody wanted this war, say George Bush and Tony Blair. I think of all the rhetorical gambits they have used, that one stands out as being the most cowardly.
